Statement of Intent

Here at Parkgate Primary School we aim to engage a wide range of partners in helping children become confident, active citizens both now and in the future.  We offer a curriculum which is inspiring and creative, enriched by links to the local area, local community and further afield, has positive impact on learning behaviours and achievement.  A curriculum which is stimulating and engaging, with clear Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural links.  There are many sporting opportunities open to the children here at Parkgate Primary; through curriculum time, extra curricular clubs and specialist coaching

EYFS

By the end of EYFS pupils will be taught to:

Gross motor skills:

  • Negotiate space and obstacles safely, with consideration for themselves and others. 
  • Demonstrate strength, balance and coordination when playing.
  • Move energetically, such as running, jumping, dancing, hopping, skipping and climbing.

Fine Motor Skills:

  • Hold a pencil effectively in preparation for fluent writing – using the tripod grip in almost all cases.
  • Use a range of small tools, including scissors, paintbrushes and cutlery.
  • Begin to show accuracy and care when drawing.

KS1

By the end of KS1 pupils will be taught to: 

  • Develop basic movements and be able to use them in patterns
  • Participate in team games with simple tactics

KS2

By the end of KS2 pupils will be taught to:

  • Master a range of movements and use them in isolation and in teams.
  • Apply basic principles to team games.
  • Apply skills in isolation and in combination.
  • Play team competitive games.
  • Measure and improve their progress
