History
Statement of intent
At Parkgate Primary School, we believe that, through the study of history, children make sense of their world and enrich their understanding of it.
This policy sets out the framework in which the history curriculum will be taught.
Through this curriculum, children will understand the similarities and differences between societies and cultures, and the impact of changes on people and place.
By the end of EYFS:
- Children can talk about the lives of the people around them and their roles in society.
- Children will know some similarities and differences between things in the past and now, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class.
By the end of KS1
- Children can sequence a set of events in chronological order and give reasons for their order.
By the end of KS2
- Children can recognise and describe differences and similarities/ changes and continuity between different periods of history.
- Children can suggest why certain events, people and changes might be seen as more significant than others.
